Two misfits - Marcy and petty thief Seth meet shop-lifting in their upstate New York hometown. Marcy wants to get a hold of some particular Barbie doll and they take off to Toronto searching for it. Marcy needs pills to take care of her muscle spasms and one of the pharmacists, thinking she is a junkie, shoots her in a leg. They are picked up by lonely widower Walter, who is kind to them.
