改编自日本RPG游戏《勇者斗恶龙》系列的第5部作品《勇者斗恶龙5：天空的新娘》，此番CG动画剧场版请来《哆啦A梦：伴我同行》导演山崎贵担任总导演和编剧，导演为八木龙一和花房真。佐藤健、有村架纯、坂口健太郎、波瑠、山田孝之等全明星配音阵容。

Caetano Gotardo, whose contribution to the omnibus film Neverquiet (Film of Wonders) was screened in 2011 at IFFR, stays close to home in his second feature. He writes, directs, edits and also plays the leading role. The story is set in the Brazilian artists’ milieu. 　　Joao has extensive conversations with friends, strangers and himself. For instance with his best friend Irene, who cannot let go of memories of her ex; and the boy he meets in the metro, with whom he wants to have sex. Beside life and love, the creative process is a recurring theme in the conversations, in the best traditions of filmmakers like Éric Rohmer or Hong Sang-soo. Piece by piece, the encounters, conversations and monologues have a great influence on Joao, who literally wrestles with his attitude to life. A puzzle unfolds within which time, narrative, character and perspective are all jumbled up in an intriguing way.

The film starts out with a young taxi driver who runs into his drunken father at a horse race. They go back to the younger man’s apartment where his girlfriend is wandering around butt-naked, and the father attacks her. Later the taxi driver and the girlfriend go to a swank party, and while he makes it with an attractive blonde in a back room, his girlfriend ends up running into her younger, rather homely but free-spirited sister who is the star of a Warholesque “art” film showing at the party. After a bizarre family reunion/birthday party, the older sister/girlfriend takes off for Copenhagen, while the younger sister pursues a nude modelling career with her much more attractive friend (Christina Lindberg). She also tries to seduce her sister’s philandering boyfriend (the taxi driver), but he is much more interested in the Lindberg character, doing her on her living room couch while her own oblivious (or apathetic) boyfriend is passed out a few feet away. The focus then shifts to the Lindberg character who it turns out is being abused by her boyfriend (he screws her in a stable and makes her do housework in the nude for some reason). There’s also a “McGuffin” involving a shipment of drugs hidden in a fur coat which eventually results somehow in all three of the leading actresses doing a bottomless can-can dance…

Paul Martin (Kier) is a paranoid novelist who rents out a secluded cottage in the British countryside in order to complete his new book, a pretentious sex romp. He has split with his girlfriend Suzanne (Richmond) and is having problems writing his book. To do the typing for him, he employs a secretary, Linda Hindstatt (Hayden), whom he meets at the railway station. A couple of youths at the railway station intimidate Linda, prompting Paul to give them a battering. Afterwards, Linda takes a walk in a field where she is raped by the youths. As a result, she shoots them both dead. Meanwhile, Paul keeps having nightmares and all his advances on Linda are rejected. He gets Suzanne to come back and she begins having sex with Linda. Paul then crashes into a river, while Suzanne is murdered in the bathtub and everything erupts into a pandemonium of violence.
