ある雨の日に少年モウ太は、雨ガサをかぶってゲタをはいていた不思議な子供と出会う。子供＝雨ふり小僧はモウ太の雨ぐつが欲しくなり、雨ぐつをくれたら三つの願いをかなえてやるという。これを機に仲良くなったモウ太と雨ふり小僧だが、やがて三つ目の願いがかなえられるや、モウ太は家の都合で突然の引越しをしてしまう。それから数十年の歳月が流れ、モウ太は雨ふり小僧と出会ったあの場所へ向かうが……。
