「赤ちょうちん」に続き、藤田敏八監督＝秋吉久美子主演で送る青春歌謡映画第2作。嫁ぎ先から突然帰ってきてしまった妹とその兄の近親相姦的愛情を描く異色作。引っ越し屋をやっている秋夫のもとに結婚したはずの妹・ねりが、ひょっこり帰って来る。とにかく秋夫は家に置いてやることにするのだが、どうも家出の理由がよく分からない。親戚連中に聞くと、ねりの夫は行方不明らしく、その原因は妹にあるという。秋夫はとにかくねりを家に戻そうとするが、ある日「夫を殺した」と告白される……。白けた表情はしているが、一方で何をするか分からないという秋吉久美子の奔放なイメージは、この作品で定着した。

In 1964 author Samuel Beckett set out on one of the strangest ventures in cinematic history: his embattled collaboration with silent era genius Buster Keaton on the production of a short, titleless avant-garde film. Beckett was nearing the peak of his fame, which would culminate in his receiving a Nobel Prize five years later. Keaton, in his waning years, never lived to see Beckett’s canonization. The film they made along with director Alan Schneider, renegade publisher Barney Rosset, and Academy Award-winning cinematographer Boris Kaufman, has been the subject of praise, condemnation, and controversy for decades.
