Now in its seventh season, the popular performance series The Met: Live in HD has brought the Metropolitan Opera’s world-class productions to a whole new audience via live video simulcasts skillfully captured with multiple high-definition cameras and beamed via satellite to cinemas around the world. As the curtain goes up on the Met’s 2012-2013 season with director Bartlett Sher’s new production of one of the greatest comic operas, Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore (starring Anna Netrebko and Matthew Polenzani and conducted by Maurizio Benini), we are pleased to present this special NYFF edition of The Met: Live in HD.The performance, transmitted live from the Met stage, will be followed by a live, in-theater discussion with Met Opera General Manager Peter Gelb and Gary Halvorson, Emmy Award-winning director of The Met: Live in HD, who will both come straight from the TV truck!

Born in the northern coastal town of South Shields, she was driven by a fierce conviction to record the impact of Thatcher era de-industrialisation upon local communities. Her striking black and white photos convey a tenderness and intimacy that set her apart from her peers and her work would become a powerful record of a world decimated by a new and ruthless form of capitalism. follows Tish’s daughter Ella as she revisits key moments from her mother’s life and work.
