斯帝芬.塞亚迪安是美国80年代著名的B级片电影大师，在美国与约翰.沃特斯和罗斯.梅耶尔并列齐名，可由于他的作品很少而且自92年后就再也没拍片了，所以名气上已无法和那两位相比。本片是斯帝芬.塞亚迪安最著名的作品，与其他两位的电影风格不同的是，塞亚迪安的B级片除了有对性的描写外，还有强烈的超现实风格，他从不在户外取景拍摄，所有场景均在摄影棚里搭幕完成，这使得他的电影有很强的舞台剧和室内肥皂剧风格，剧情以奇幻为主，演员的表演也是夸张疯狂，服装五颜六色，据说本片是受德国经典表现主义影片《卡里古拉博士的小屋》的启发而来，所以角色的服饰化装以及舞台的布景等各方面都带有明显的表现主义风格，而影片内容又完全与原作不同，是一部重点表现恐怖事物和性的低成本B级影片，这就使得全片成了一锅大杂绘，怪诞奇异的人物和场景层出不穷，情节也是杂七杂八，稀奇古怪，很难一下子说清，但却毫不影响其成为80年代美国的最后一部B级Cult片经典。
