With a title taken from a Latin poem by Virgil, Sulev Keedus directed this Estonian drama about a youth, Maecenas (Mait Merekulski), who is sent from the Russian mainland to a remote Estonian island where the only resident is an old man, Jakub (Evald Aavik), whose memories surface in flashbacks, revealing his past as a missionary collecting Zulu songs. He is all wet and he knew that somebody else was in the car, he 's tired of the rain, of broken dreams .He promises to leave the car as soon as the rain ceases. But that meeting will follow them forever.

A Metaphor for the Way Our Lives Are Linked. The Rain is a series of music and dance tableaus, told as encounters in the rain, depicting different people at different stages in their lives and in everyday circumstances. Outdoors or in, the characters live their lives unaware of the downpour.
