《传承》共分为三个篇章，《玉麦新事》、《医者仁心》、《花开敦煌》，通过一个个家庭故事的展开，讲述十年间中国老百姓生活、工作及周围发生的种种变化，侧面反映出国家翻天覆地的历史巨变。

该片以人工智能服务“Wonderland”为切入点，讲述与看不到的爱人进行视频通话，从而得到心灵慰藉的故事。
