该剧根据一千多年前吴越国“纳土归宋”这一著名历史事件展开的艺术创作。讲述了五代十国时期，钱弘俶（白宇 饰）、赵匡胤（朱亚文 饰）、郭荣（俞灏明 饰）三位有志青年经历了家国动乱、秩序崩溃、生灵涂炭后，逐渐认识到只有国家一统才能摆脱战火国殇。钱弘俶于政权动乱之时扛起吴越国主的重任，“保境安民”，福泽一方；历经战乱的赵匡胤则延续了郭荣未竟的事业，建立北宋政权，严明军纪，改革弊政，安定民生，慎用兵戈，一扫五代丧乱之颓风，向着天下太平一步步迈进。最终，在北宋统一的大势和天下黎庶的企盼面前，吴越王钱弘俶封疆献土，“纳土归宋”，完成了中国历史上一次伟大的统一。本剧表达了中华民族自古以来对和平的热切追求、对统一大势众望所归和对安定生活的真诚向往。

公元941年，吴越国王钱元瓘离世，新主少年继位，吴越王室陷入内外交困。五年后，王弟钱弘俶自请随使臣北上汴梁朝贺正旦，然而汴梁的局面竟是契丹兵临城下，天子石重贵称臣契丹，宰相冯道在风雨飘摇中权衡各方。此行，钱弘俶经历了北方家国破碎、人伦失序的惨淡，在危难中与柴荣和赵匡胤结下深厚的情谊。回到吴越国，钱弘俶一改往日自由散漫的个性，在朝廷大展拳脚，内除奸臣、外打豪强，又于政权动乱之时扛起国主的重任。另一方面，北方的赵匡胤，继承了柴荣未尽的事业，建立北宋政权，兴兵南下。最终，在北宋统一的大势和天下黎庶的福祉面前，赵匡胤、钱弘俶摒弃兵戈，于太平兴国三年（公元978年）完成了“纳土归宋”和平统一的历史创举。

Vicente, seventeen, lives with brother Nino, ten-years-old, and his ailing father in a derelict house on the outskirts of the capital. They don't seem to remember their mother, and are very much attached to their father, despite his temper, and his frequent absences from home. One day, the father leaves for good, and Vicente and Nino swear to cover it up. It's their secret.
