宏伟的长江水利枢钮工程正值关键的一战——大江截流，各方面的领导同志都前来参战。某部副部长仲驷在人群中找到了他的老战友陆原、咸平、蒲剑秋。战友重逢，思绪万千，往事如长江水滚滚而来。抗日的烽火中，他们在长江边的小木屋相遇，忧国忧民的爱国工程师仲驷和学生咸平，在地下党员蒲剑秋、陆原的启发下，认识了朴素的革命真理，相约一起奔赴延安，并许诺屋主人易老大将来一定能过上好日子。解放后，他们分别在不同的岗位上领导着新中国的建设。已经是政务院重工业处处长的仲驷，收养了一个在城里流浪的姑娘易红桔，决心要把她培养成新中国的工程师。大跃进时期，仲驷担任设计万吨水压机的领导工作。经过四年的努力试验终于成功，这时仲驷发现参加试验的工程师易红桔竟是当年结识的易老大的女儿，并得知易老大和乡亲们如今竟以泡桐叶充饥，他想起当年的诺言，十分痛心。“文革”中，仲驷被打成走资派，下放到长江边的一个干校劳动。一次受伤后，他被易老大所救。此时，陆原正指挥着长江上著名的水利工程建设，但他好大喜功，不按科学规律办事。仲驷在周总理的亲自关怀下，从干校“解放”出来，奉命前来视察这项工程。他发现了工程建设中存在的隐患，两位战友彻夜长谈，使陆原从极左思潮的影响中猛醒过来。粉碎“四人帮”后，仲驷、陆原共同领导着这项工程的建设。工程即将完成，几位战友又相约来到木屋前看望易老大，向木屋告别。长江截流成功，江水上涨，木屋被淹没了，雄伟的大坝屹立在长江之上。

Wooow man this movie had some awesome death scenes in it. They were by far the best I've ever seen, even better than anything like when Jason chops the boy and girl in half through the tent (while they are having sex) with a spear. Even cooler cuz they are suicides! So inspiring I kind of want to do mine that way, yeah. Also, there are some cute pictures of beavers! REALLY cute. THough they could be puppet-beavers.

The Wooden Gun takes place in Tel Aviv in the early 1950s. In a clear-eyed fashion that would have been impossible in a film made by "outsiders", the plot details the conflict between native-born Israelis and the newly arrived European refugees. The various fears and prejudices of the adults are passed along to their children, upon whom director Hans Moshenson concentrates. Largely comprised of non professionals, the teen-aged protagonists and antagonists are remarkable in their sincerity and conviction.

Between July, 2007 and June, 2008, veteran independent film-maker,James Benning built replicas of two iconic American Cabins in a remote part of the High Sierras- Henry David Thoreau’s hut from Walden Pond and the one-room plywood shack in rural Montana from which Theodore John Kaczynski (the ‘Unabomber’) conducted his 16-year bombing campaign via the U.S. mail. The juxtaposition of these two simple structures invokes and implicates deeply conflicted and enduring foundational American myths concerning the scope and meaning of personal liberty, civic responsibility and the rule of law; individual conscience, democracy and civil disobedience; the transcendental value of nature, wilderness and the god-given right to exploit natural resources; American exceptionalism, environmental conservationism and faith in technological progress; the imperative to make oneself (anew), to ’succeed’ and, if necessary, to secede.
