Using film extracts, Farocki explores this visual language, it's symbolism, Freudian slips, automatisms and its music. Often, hands betray an emotion which the face tries to dissimulate. They can also function as a conduit (exchanging money) or witness to a form of competence (work).

1年前に殺し屋を引退したエリカ(卯水咲流)は、恋人の日浦(斉藤一登)と共にささやかだが幸せな生活を送っていた。多くのターゲットを消してきたエリカの心は感情を失っていたが、日浦の優しさと愛がエリカの心の傷を癒していく。そんなある日、エリカは日浦が殺されたことをテレビのニュースで知る。日浦を失ったエリカは喪失感に苛まれ、生きる気力さえ失ってしまう。そんな彼女にある疑問が浮かぶ。いったい誰が。エリカが突き止めた犯人は、殺し屋時代の依頼人、西園寺是麿(下元史郎)の息子、清麿(樫根慶太)だった。エリカに異常なまでの恋心を抱いていた清麿は、恋人の存在を知り、嫉妬のうちに日浦を消したのであった。日浦の敵を討つと自分に誓ったエリカは、1年前に葬り去ったはずの殺し屋の心を再び目覚めさせることになる。
