葛城美里和她的反“NERV”组织WILLE到达因为地球核心化而呈赤红色的巴黎。船员从旗舰奇迹号上降落到一个密闭塔，他们只有720秒的时间来复原城市。此时多架“NERV”组织的福音战士出现，真希波驾驶福音战士8号机·改加以拦截。同时，碇真嗣、明日香和绫波零在日本附近徘徊。

好莱坞著名导演迈克尔·贝将目光聚焦于日本经典漫画《新世纪福音战士》（EVA）。尽管目前双方还未就版权问题展开接触，但拍摄真人电影一事仍存在可能性。神村靖宏还透露，《新世纪福音战士新剧场版》有考虑制作续篇的计划，不过在新剧场版尚未完结之前，一切都还无法确定。
