本片记述香港两家声誉优良的 ‘Band One’ 中学的日常生活，其中包括：上课、早会、老师会议、课外活动及家长工作坊等活动。这出电影尝试去了解老师教学目的与方法、学生的价值观、学校对男女角色的看法、家长与子女的关系，英语教学、及教师的处境等各方面情况。 　　本片采用了一个「旁观者」的角度来拍摄，与一般电视上的纪录片不同之处，是片中并无旁述、访问或配乐，摄影风格平实自然，目的希望让观众自己去理解及分析片中所见所闻。 　　《中学》在香港商业电影院公映历时超过半年，迭获教育界及公众好评。校长、教师、学生组织观摩，大学、中学院校动员研究讨论，并用作训练的教材。 　　秉承怀斯曼《高中》精神的是香港纪录片女导演张虹的作品《中学》，周浩声称自己拍摄《高三》是受了张虹作品的启发。社会学背景的张虹也是半道出身做纪录片，2002年完成的《中学》也是她的第二部作品。这部作品以香港两所声誉优良的学校为拍摄对象，张虹本人更是沉默而固执地躲在了摄影机背后。与怀斯曼的做法一样，全片没有人物对着镜头说话，而是继续做他们自己的事情，如同摄影机不在场。不知道是否因为作者本人做过教师，这个片子显得更加温婉、节制，仿佛一份详尽的关于两个学校日常工作的报告，其中还体现了内地学校不具备的某些亮点。
