Within the human struggle to live and work on a changing planet, questions of value, extraction, and adaptation echo across seemingly disparate worlds. A Common Sequence examines shifts of life and labor through a critically-endangered salamander and plant patents in the apple industry. 本片描绘了一对经营葡萄园的夫妇之间的纷扰爱情故事。丈夫龙马每年冬季都会将家和葡萄园交给妻子亚由美照看，独自前往东京打工。留守期间，亚由美与婆婆共同生活，即便致电龙马也总被生硬挂断。某日，龙马在东京与昔日倾慕的青梅竹马千寻偶然重逢。与此同时，亚由美身边也出现了令她心动的年下男性草壁。
