First broadcast on the UK’s Channel 4 in March 1988 this was episode 10 (of 11) of the series The Modern World, Ten Great Writers. 　　It mixes documentary and interview with a part dramatisation of The Trial starring the still relatively unknown Tim Roth (he is fourth in the credits listing on Amazon). The voiceover is by the ever so serious but still rather good Melvyn Bragg and there are comments from the even more serious George Steiner who at one point makes the salient comment that Kafka is the only writer (or person?) ever to be identified by just an initial. 　　The picture quality is not great but given the nature of the piece and its rarity that is not a great drawback. Please add to the Franz Kafka Collection. 　　As ever, given its rarity, this piece is for the benefit of the members of this wonderful site and not for other sites and especially not for any public sites. 舞台剧演员林家声（林哲熹 饰）正在紧锣密鼓地排练卡夫卡的《变形记》，准备上演中。与此同时，他的法国女友朱莉（朱丽亚·罗伊 Julia Roy 饰）抵达台北，二人共度良宵。然而，第二天却发现林家声神秘失踪了。原来，林家声被绑匪掳走。在家苦等多时的法国女友朱莉，同时苦恋林家声的剧场助理凤梨（简嫚书 饰），因找不到演员而找上门。在凤梨的协助下，朱莉开始寻找林家声，逐渐走入了光怪陆离的台湾社会之中。 　　与此同时，三名绑匪在黑帮老大突然被捕后发生了内讧。绑匪中的尤干决定继续绑架，带着林家声展开一场亡命旅途。在这颠沛流离的旅程中，步入险境的两人竟然产生了意外的认同感。

影片是著名作家卡夫卡名著《洞穴》的一个当代版本的改编。《卡夫卡的洞穴》中讲述了在快速变化和日益孤立的世界一个男人的“蜕变”。片子中的男主人公极度缺乏安全感，因此他竭力想打造一个坚固的洞穴来抵御外来的侵扰，但他所做的一切都是徒劳。全片充满了狂言呓语，男主人公在惶恐的世界里渐渐步入癫狂的深渊。男主人公似乎已经得到的一切，舒服地坐在自己的洞穴，一个堡垒式的公寓，但不管他如何努力与外界保持距离，他变得和自己网站的恐慌更纠结：外面的人知道他是存在的，他们想要他，他们希望自己的财富，他们不可避免地要得到他。

Love of great literature is one of the outstanding features of South American culture. This Argentine drama, mixes imagination and "reality" and includes a film-within-a-film story about making a film about Kafka. The writer Franz Kafka (1883-1924) was born to a German Jewish family in Czechoslovakia. In an uncanny way which prefigured the Holocaust, Kafka wrote about absurd, terrifying situations taking place in a nihilistic universe in which almost everyone can be considered a victim. The movie explores his romantic and intellectual life before he died at age 41 of tuberculosis. Sigmund Freud, whom Kafka never actually met, makes an appearance in the story. The film-within-a-film has an Argentine movie director travel to Prague to try and produce a film there about Kafka's loves, only to discover that the studio there is busy filming Amadeus. Though these elements are confusing to read about, some reviewers felt that the director somehow made a coherent and enjoyable film out of them.
