More than once, the protagonists in Mimang wonder where they are and where they’re going—it is a concrete, geographical question born from walking around the streets of Seoul, but as the film progresses, that urban journey also proves to be an existential one. We accompany the characters in some stretches of their path—many years separate each of the episodes that make up the film, and that distance reveals changes through what remains. This is not a film about earthquakes, but about small transformations, and the marks of time can be seen not only in the actors’ bodies, but also in that other omnipresent protagonist that is Seoul, whose vitality invades every shot. 1949年3月25日，中共中央从西柏坡迁到北京香山“进京赶考”，于新中国成立前夕毛泽东、周恩来、刘少奇、朱德、任弼时等抱着将革命进行到底的决心和勇气，在香山运筹帷幄、共商大计，会见民主人士、指挥渡江战役、布局经济工作和筹备政协会议。在国共和谈破裂的千钧一发之际，全力筹划建立新中国的开国大典的辉煌历程 。

1941年夏，处于日伪统治下的哈尔滨暗潮汹涌。章番表面是伪满警察厅的警察，实则是我党安插在伪警队伍里的一颗“暗棋”。此时，我党内部有高层叛变，与特务朱赫单线联络，其代号为“公爵”。“公爵”的存在对其他同志的安全构成了极大威胁，为此，我党派遣暗杀小组前往哈尔滨执行清除任务。然而，行动组刚踏入伪满境内，便落入朱赫精心设计的陷阱。章番暗中助力行动组成功逃脱，并通过侦查查明了“公爵”的真实身份。随后，“公爵”被成功击杀，但章番也因此引起了朱赫的怀疑。为保护章番，行动组女特工顾念以章番妻子的身份，与他一同潜伏下来。此后，二人相互扶持，在黑暗中与敌人展开了艰苦卓绝的斗争，共同盼望着黎明的降临。

方池鱼与顾景行结婚十年，偶然发现丈夫出轨了一个酷似自己的年轻女孩许明瑶，并暗中为她纹了与池鱼最爱的茉莉花相同的情侣纹身。在经历了欺骗、朋友背叛、甚至被设计为小三捐血后，池鱼彻底心碎，果断提出离婚，远赴瑞士重拾科研事业。顾景行虽然后悔追至瑞士试图挽回，但池鱼已决心结束过去，开启新的人生。故事以池鱼在科研领域重获新生，而顾景行在悔恨中孤独度日为结局，展现了女性在遭遇背叛后的自我觉醒与重生。
