由于混血的外貌和金色的头发，个性其实十分善良的少年羽濑川小鹰 成为了众人孤立的对象，这让他十分的苦恼。同样的，脸色难看个性孤僻的少女三日月夜空 也只能在课后和自己幻想中的朋友有说有笑。这样两个孤独的人相遇了，一个专门为了交朋友而成立的社团“邻人社”应运而生。 没想到，社团一经成立，居然招来了诸多个性奇怪的美少女——喜欢玩美少女游戏的美少女柏崎星奈，外表是妹子实则是爷们的楠辛村，超级高智商少女志熊理科，中二病重度患者羽濑川小鸠 等等。这些没有朋友的家伙们聚在一起，居然也在不知不觉中交到了许多的朋友呢。

2013年7月24日宣布要拍摄真人电影版，由及川拓郎担任监督与编剧，确定于2014年3月21日上映。

本作收录于2011年9月22日随原作第7卷特装版发售的同捆DVD，是早于TV动画第一季发行的原创作品（第0话）。

故事主要讲述了就读于圣克罗尼亚学园高中部的溷血儿羽濑川小鹰，在某一天看到了美少女三日月夜空一个人愉悦地说着话，之后两人便开始聊起关于如何交朋友的话题。而没想到夜空建立了一个以交朋友为目的问题社团──邻人部，各种问题美少女先后申请入社。就这样这部残念系青春恋爱喜剧拉开帷幕了……

在一大帮孩子中，哥哥良一和弟弟启二是能镇住大家的孩子王。孩子们常常会比谁的父亲最伟大，理由也千奇百怪。比如有的说自己的父亲可以把牙装进去又拔出来，有的说我的父亲有汽车。良一和启二没有找到什么可以骄傲的话题，但他们还是深信不疑，自己的父亲是最伟大的。一天兄弟俩去小伙伴岩崎家看电影，碰到了父亲。岩崎的父亲是良一父亲公司中的一个大官。平日在他们心中最伟大的父亲此时却对岩崎父亲低头哈腰，像一个讨主人欢心的小动物。兄弟二人和父亲发生了激烈的冲突，质问父亲：“如果我们长大了，也得向太郎低三下四的话，我们不想上学去了。”面对他们的质问，悲哀的父亲无法给他们一个解释。两个可悲的孩子只好照常去上学。他们的背景像是对第一次看到的事情打了一个大大的问号。
