故事发生在1942年美国密西西比州的一个人名叫亚苏的小镇上，那时二战正如火如荼地进行着，可是在这里，战火的硝烟仿佛只有在新闻上才能看到。小镇上…

玛丽露很兴奋，因为今天是她哥哥桑尼的生日。桑尼想要一辆摩托车，但他的父亲决定给他买只狗，主要是因为父亲自己想要一只狗。桑尼却不喜欢狗，得知消息后很失望。与父亲发生争执后，桑尼离开了家。当他沿着铁轨走的时候，他发现了一只走失的狗，那条狗过来安慰他，很快他对狗的感觉就不一样了，主动买只狗送给父亲。

And after a hidden friend full of laughter, Luíza tells Valentina that she is pregnant.
