彼特是好莱坞一位50年代刚入行的电影编剧，被控支持左派组织，要立刻传唤他出庭作证，在失意之余发生车祸，落入急流的河水中，被河水带到一个平凡的小镇。彼特因头部受伤而丧失记忆，被镇上“堂皇戏院”（片名所指）的老板哈利春柏误认为是他在战争中生死不明的儿子路克。镇民为此欢欣鼓舞，彼特便以路克的身份在小镇里展开新生活，他努力与哈利一起修复戏院重新开张。彼特因观看某部影片而恢复了记忆，而此时调查员也追踪到小镇，要求彼特立刻出庭。

The artwork is an attempt to preserve Helena’s memories of her life – capturing her experiences and feelings – and her love for those who have played a part in it. At the same time, Killeen captures Asbestos’ own love for his mother as he attempts to preserve her recollections. The film is also a record of how life-changing a condition Alzheimer’s is – a moving and poignant portrait that conveys the lived experience of a neurodegenerative condition. But it is also a joyous celebration of a life lived and a testament to the vivid, if fragile, nature of our memory.

凯伦·吉兰正式加盟科林·席幅执导的独立剧情片《众生之下》(All Creatures Here Below，暂译)，出演该片女主角。吉兰将与大卫·达斯马齐连在新片中化身一对前往堪萨斯城，寻求庇护的绝望青年夫妇。身为男主角的达斯马齐连已为本片撰写了剧本，影片也将不日投入到创作中。
