Fueled by the arrival of a young painter, Elpida is a housewife who finds refuge from her monotonous life in her own fantasy world. As this fantasy world becomes filled with thoughts of vengeful violence, the lines blur between fantasy and reality. As events progress, Elpida is forced to question her own reality as she struggles to remember what really happened. »Pause« is Tonia Mishiali’s debut as director of a feature film and is a personal movie about a woman’s struggle in an oppressive marriage. This movie is heavily influenced by Mishiali’s own upbringing in patriarchal Cyprus. »Pause« is a drama with dark humour that sinks viewers into the world of Elpida and makes them question the position of women as mothers, wives and daughters.

April 2020 – Lockdown. Etienne, a film director, and his brother Paul, a music journalist, are confined together in their childhood home with their new partners Morgane and Carole. Every room, every object, reminds them of their childhood, and the memories of the absents - their parents, their neighbors…This compels them to measure the distance that separates them from each other and the roots they share, those of their ground zero. As the world around them is becoming increasingly unsettling, unreality, and even a disturbing strangeness, invades their daily gestures and actions.

为了遏制日趋严重的青少年自杀行为，日本通过了一项名为“青少年自杀抑制项目（YSC）”的法令，在该法令推动下，许多未成年的青少年被召集软禁在隔绝的空间里，他们的心脏被植入一种装置，通过外部开关可以导致心脏跳动停止，达到自杀的目的。在这座与世隔绝的“监狱”内，陆陆续续有少男少女因不堪忍受严苛的环境而按下按钮自杀，他们的死则成为政府研究的案例推广到全国。转眼15年过去，在某座监狱里尚有真沙美（水沢エレナ 饰）、寻（與真司郎 饰）、新庄亮太（太賀 饰）等六人存活，他们彼此鼓励，相约活着走出围墙。这一天，名叫南洋平（小出惠介 饰）的看守调任于此，一切发生了改变…… 　　本片根据山田悠介的同名小说改编。

西元2030年，一个以分析青少年精神构造为宗旨，被取名「CYP」的国家计划开始了。 　　这个计划是从全国随机选出儿童， 在他们5岁时，植入特殊的电子仪器於心脏内，等到10岁后，就会被送到一个被称为「中心」的设施中隔离，一进到 「中心」就会交给孩子们一个“开关”并且告诉他们：「只要按下这个开关，你的心脏就会停止跳动。」 　　突然之间，这些孩子被迫面对压倒性的绝望以及恐惧……无法逃脱的事实，逐渐侵蚀著孩子们的心。据说即使能撑下去的人，最多也只有2年，便会按下开关……
