Un comte fait construire un petit nid d’amour pour lui et sa concubine, une pièce avec une porte pour seule ouverture. Surprenant sa bien-aimée dans les bras de son musicien, il va les enfermer en murant cette porte. L’action est ici assez réduite, Griffith s’efforçant de créer avant tout un certain suspense. Il se concentre sur le trio principal et joue en partie avec les regards. A noter la présence dans des rôles de figuration de Mack Sennett (l’un des soldats) et de Mary Pickford (l’une des courtisanes).
