两千多年前的一个下午，郊外荒野，熊猫小仙玲玲的筋斗云坏在了半路，他也被摔得浑身是伤，画面里的他却依然用头撞树、砸手。他用香点燃通讯器，请求联系司命府，通讯画面转接多次后才终于接通。原来玲玲本是一只修炼千年的熊猫，好不容易拿到了升仙资格，上了天庭后才被告知需要参加一次神仙晋升考核。他领到任务是保护取经团队，潜伏在花脖子山破坏妖怪们吃唐僧肉的计划，潜伏代号是玲珑塔。虽然也质疑为何要做这种考核，同时担心自己没有培训就去执行任务是否可靠，但玲玲还是硬着头皮出发了。 几经周折，玲玲终于与自己的直属领导上峰星君取得联系并进行了仓促的沟通，玲珑塔擦干血迹，开始继续奔走。夜幕降临时，他爬上一辆停在路边不见主人的牛车火速静音驶离。牛车停下，接头人土地公将玲玲带上山，交代他的身份是猪精厨子，向他交接了衣服和法宝。玲玲进入城寨，参加了一场葬礼，被绑住受审。令人意想不到的是，混乱之中 ，玲玲竟被山寨军师鼹师认作是大王的私生子，被山寨众妖奉为了新任大王！
