在日本帝国主义时期下的朝鲜，从小被作为艳情插画小说家上月教明 （ 赵震雄 饰）收养的贵族小姐秀子 （ 金敏喜 饰），在外人看来是个受人羡慕的温室之花，却不知她其实是被姨父上月教明培养接替自杀而亡的姨母演绎的情色朗读会的当家花旦。而冒充伯爵的骗子藤原 （ 河正宇 饰）邀请在贼屋长大的淑熙 （ 金泰梨 饰）作为小姐的侍女来个里应外合，骗婚之后将小姐关进精神病院并侵吞她的财产。淑熙为了钱爽快的答应了伯爵的要求，由女管家佐佐木 （ 金海淑 饰）带她进入了幽深的大名然而在照顾敏感纤细的小姐的同时，两人渐渐产生了情愫。 随着眼神和身体接触所带来微妙的反应，两人也最终结合并冲破层层礼教和阻拦终成眷属乘坐逃往上海的客船 。

公爵（河正宇 饰）觊觎日本贵族秀子小姐（金敏喜 饰）的财产，企图娶她为妻，再以她患有精神疾病为由将其送进精神病院。为达成这一阴谋，公爵把出身小偷世家的南淑熙（金泰璃 饰）安插到秀子身边当女佣，这样两人便可里应外合，将深闺中单纯的秀子及其巨额财产收入囊中。 在南淑熙看来，秀子天真脆弱、善良敏感。相处过程中，两人渐生真挚情谊，而公爵虚伪贪婪的嘴脸却让南淑熙十分厌恶。然而，面对丰厚报酬，南淑熙还是选择了背叛。她成功说服秀子和公爵私奔并举行了结婚仪式，可就在此时，一件意想不到的事发生了。
