这是我在甘肃古浪黄羊川拍摄的"甘肃的意大利"系列的第三部，纪录的主要是我在当地认识的朋友和熟人们的生活，他们主要是镇上中学的老师，还有一些原来在这个学校工作，后来调入县里，总之，都是一些有公干的人，有稳定的收入。从2000年和他们认识到现在，已经有10年的时间。我的拍摄是在2005年7月到2008年10月之间，最终的片子呈现为4个部分，每个部分基本对应于一个独立时期，里面的大环境和个人的境遇都在逐渐改变。 　　This is the 3rd documentary film in my series of films, Italy, Gansu Province，which was shot in Huangyangchuan Township, mainly documented the lives of my local friends and acquaintances there. Most of them are local high school teachers, or ex-teachers later transfered their jobs to the county. In all, not like local farmers, they have steady jobs and steady incomes. 　　We got to be friends in 2000. My shooting lasted from Jul. 2005 to Oct. 2008, this film is constructed in four parts, each part correspond an certain period of time, with a different circumstance and personal condition.

“A fascinating tale of visionary aesthetics and… sublime structures” – Steve Dollar, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL 　　In 1961, three young, visionary architects were commissioned by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara to create Cuba’s National Art Schools on the grounds of a former golf course in Havana, Cuba. Construction of their radical designs began immediately and the school’s first classes soon followed. Dancers, musicians and artists from all over the country reveled in the beauty of the schools, but as the dream of the Revolution quickly became a reality, construction was abruptly halted and the architects and their designs were deemed irrelevant in the prevailing political climate. Forty years later the schools are in use, but remain unfinished and decaying. UNFINISHED SPACES charts the journey through almost boundless creative ambition, the destructive force of bureaucracy, and the aftermath on the lives of the architects. From Dickens's unfinished The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Jane Austen's Sanditon to Coleridge's Kubla Khan, he talks to those who have attempted to finish these literary enigmas and those who believe that any such task is impossible. 　　In a film that picks through literature's leftovers, Sooke explores the moral dilemmas as well as the commercial opportunities finishing presents. And he considers how, in the modern era, artists have purposefully left their work unfinished. 　　Paul Morley, Mark Lawson, John Mullan, Robert McKee, Sarah Churchwell, Gwyneth Hughes, Andrew Motion and Mike Figgis amongst others, help Sooke work his way through a never-ending story.

The unique film set within a Karaja village in Brazil's Mato Grosso, Jim Jarmusch listens while Sam Fuller describes the 1950's "Tigrero" movie that he was unable to make. It also profiles the Karaja people. The non-film "Tigrero" had a fascinating history. The name was purchased off a novel by 20th Century Fox by Darryl F. Zanuck. Screen writer Fuller was sent to Brazil to come up with the story. There between two jungle rivers, he meets the Karajas who allow him to film their ceremonies and their village. Upon returning, he wrote a blockbuster film which would have starred John Wayne, Tyrone Power, and Ava Gardner. Because it was to be filmed in the dangerous jungle, Fox nixed the project. A lot of this movie focuses on Jarmusch interacting with the natives. The two also discuss Fuller's career and religion. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
