秀枝有三个儿子，小儿子何柏在母亲节前夕给她寄了一张自己录制的CD。秀枝准备了一大桌子饭菜，但三个儿子都没回家陪她过母亲节，就借了邻居家的冷冻车，装了好吃的东西去看台北看望儿子。秀枝等了很久都没见到何柏，只得去了在花莲开民宿的二儿子家，但是因为婆媳不和，很快便离开，去在台南工作的大儿子家。大儿子一面到台北寻找弟弟，一年迎接妈妈的到来，不料噩耗传来，弟弟何柏投海自尽，全家人悲痛万分。
