1931年皖东余田镇，镇上大户白老爷迫于生意和家产，不得已将 白灵 （ 程愫 饰）嫁给 钱一飞 （ 刘向京 饰）。白灵跳崖轻生，深爱白灵的 唐天明 （ 潘泰名 饰）和下人 田小满 （ 黄维德 饰）把白灵救了回来。唐天明决定帮白家还债，爷爷唐贯鸿万般阻拦。原来唐天明不是唐家大少爷，而是田树槐的孩子，与下人田小满是亲兄弟。白灵一心寻仇，周旋在钱一飞和唐天明中间。日本入侵余田镇，田小满带着双枪队上山当了义匪，专门对抗鬼子。唐天明跟随何团长参加了国军，钱一飞当了汉奸，白灵却不知所踪。几个月后，白灵回到了余田镇，她嫁给了 朱晋涛，与唐天琪一起抓汉奸。抗日胜利后，田小满加入了共产党跟随香兰的部队。国军战败逃往台湾，祖国解放。唐天明去了台湾，田小满和唐天明从此天各一方，继续完成历史赋予他们的使命 。
