胡万增夫妇是大连市东马屯村的果农，他们种植了三百多棵苹果树，抚养着有精神残疾的女儿和儿子。本片历时一年，跟踪记录了胡万增夫妇从春到冬，种植果树和抚养儿女的真实生活。故事起伏跌宕，既关乎苹果种植的难易丰欠，又关乎一家人的喜怒哀乐。

40年代，少年加伯（Jay Renshaw 饰）爱上了长他几届的学长乔纳森（Ryland Shelton 饰），两人在苹果树下定情，决定相伴终生。哪怕战争瘫痪了加伯的双腿，也不能阻挡他们的爱。然而七十年过去了，当乔纳森不幸因病去世后，加伯不得不搬到养老院，与顽固偏执的同龄人生活在一起，被迫回到柜子中去......短片反映了LGBT老年人面对的困境，也讲述了一段感人至深的同性爱情。

影片讲述了一名与树为精神依赖的山区留守女童杨小莲，在一次放学回家人路上被坏人性侵了。噩梦从此困扰着杨小莲，她谁也不敢说，只将这一切写成纸条放在树洞里……支教老师关珊发现她的事情，几次家访劝其报警，屡吃闭门羹后方知奶奶思想封建，在极力隐瞒，内心经历着痛苦与纠结。……后在关珊极力帮助和劝说下，奶奶最终带上杨小莲报警，将罪犯绳之以法。
