Valentine's Day with the Peanuts gang: Charlie Brown tries to muster up the courage to ask the little red-haired girl to the school dance. Lucy demands kisses and chocolates from Schroeder. Snoppy writes bad poetry while Sally wants to make Linus her sweet baboo. Marcie grapples with her crush on Charlie Brown, and Peppermint Patty hopes Charlie Brown will take her as his date to the dance.

When the gang has lost their patience with Snoopy's pranks, they pressure Charlie Brown to act. He decides to send Snoopy back to his puppy farm for obedience training, but Snoopy is less than enthusiastic. He retaliates by going only as far as Peppermint Patty's place who agrees to let him stay for the night. He overstays his welcome as a freeloader which forces Charlie Brown to drag him back home with a firm hand and lease. Snoopy responds by running away for real back to Peppermint Patty's, but he learns that his return visit will be far less pleasant this time...

"I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!" centers on Rerun, Linus and Lucy's lovable but ever-skeptical younger brother. It's Christmas vacation, and as usual, Rerun's big sister is stressing him out, so he decides to turn to his best friend, Snoopy, for amusement and holiday cheer. However his faithful but unpredictable beagle companion has plans of his own, giving Rerun reason to ask Snoopy to invite his canine brother Spike for a visit. When Spike shows up, it looks like Rerun will have a dog for Christmas after all - but then the real trouble begins.

A series of yuletide vignettes with the Peanuts Gang: Snoopy gets a job as a bellringer, Sally comes up with an unusual way of acquiring a Christmas tree, Lucy attempts to be more nice, but still tries to persuade everyone to buy her presents for Christmas, and Linus struggles with writing an appropriate letter to Santa Claus and develops a crush on a strange new girl in school who keeps changing her name.

Charlie Brown is obliged to attend Peppermint Patty's New Year's Eve party, even though he has to finish the novel "War and Peace".
