Melvin（Donald O'Connor飾演）是雜誌攝影師，他偶遇年輕女演員 Judy LeRoy （Debbie Reynolds飾演），答應為她拍攝一輯照片。他的波士卻不打算用她的照片作封面。 Judy 父親希望女兒嫁給Harry Black，女兒不肯。Melvin自製封面討其父親歡心，他以為女兒將成為荷里活影星，就答應兩人交往。豈料，發現封面是假的，Melvin不敢見他們失蹤，Judy一家人趕往雜誌社，波士知情後，起用Judy封面相，最後在公園找回Melvin，有情人終於一起。

苏晚棠被富家子弟纠缠，杜言川解围，露台独处时苏晚棠的举动让杜心动后离去。苏晚棠调资料、定复仇计划，盛装去杜言川酒吧，与他发生关系。杜老太太宣布未婚妻，苏晚棠拒绝杜言川求婚。苏晚棠被苏泰然控制，杜言川营救遭要挟，赵成道出真相，二人解决危机。苏晚棠悼念父母，杜言川求婚，赵成杀苏泰然后自首，苏晚棠应允求婚。

战后的日本，四名退休艺妓用另一种方式维持着彼此当年的关系，也体味着生活的孤独。绪纪（杉村春子 饰）年轻时纠缠于多名男子之间，时至今日仍有当年的情人打扰她的生活，孑然一身的绪纪放高利贷给昔日姐妹，用刻薄的态度掩盖些许失落。音美与玉惠合租一室，膝下分别育有一儿一女，如今音美沉溺赌博、玉惠卧病，不得不忍受绪纪的奚落。年岁渐长的儿女成家远行，音美同玉惠一时倍感孤苦，只能借酒浇愁…… 　　绪纪久久不能忘怀的情人田部（上原谦 饰）来访，但这个步入中年的男人早已无曾经的意气风发，绪纪燃起的最后一点希望也将幻灭么？ 　　本片根据作家林芙美子的三篇小说改编，位列《电影旬报》年度十佳第七位。

In the absence of his parents, he lives with his grandmother and sells Rivotril tablets to make some money. On a night that’s struggling to take off, Alex goes down to the basement and into a cellar where a bunch of people are gathered. A rap battle is in progress. Nemy is a girl with refined bars, who dances confidently and sinuously. She notices Alex and seeks him out. Together they venture into the night, driving in a stolen car. Two solitudes that recognise each other. Their bodies brush against each other in what seems to be the beginning of a story.
