一天，鱼从海洋中消失了。水产省开始应用很早以前就开始策划的“宇宙鱼塘”的试验成果。尾道设立了“尾道宇宙渔业团”，并培育出了宇宙渔师。近年来，随着男女雇用机会均等法的强化，“女性也可以成为渔师”的呼声高涨，于是6名新进宇宙渔师候补生被选拔出来。舞台为尾道，目标为宇宙。这是描写以宇宙渔师为目标的六人成长故事。
