故事讲述为了寻找失踪的妹妹恩惠（朴世婉 饰）的下落，仁爱（李诗英 饰）逐渐爆发的故事，这是一部带着复仇色彩的动作片。李诗英在片中扮演的仁爱是一名全职保镖，因卷入过度的警卫争议而锒铛入狱，出狱后梦想着和妹妹过平凡的生活，结果妹妹却突然失踪了。学校和警察都不帮忙，仁爱只能自己寻找妹妹。

一对双胞胎即将出世，剖腹产前的家庭会议上，大家认为女孩可以多照顾男孩，决定先拿她出来，赋予她姐姐的名义和随后需要承担的义务。十几年后，小女孩对这种身份提出了质疑，在一个晚餐时间，她终于爆发，无数遍地对自己母亲哭诉：“你不喜欢我了！” 　　第一次是叫嚷； 　　第二次声音降了下来，哽咽着说； 　　再往后则是暴哭。 　　这是李玉在东方时空的《生活空间》里做的一期节目。原本领导安排李玉去拍摄一个刑警的故事，她来到刑警的家里“做功课”，却把刑警放在一边不管，将摄影机对准了刑警的小女儿——一个和弟弟一起诞生于剖腹产，并由父母强行冠以“姐姐”头衔的小女孩。李玉敏锐地从这个小女孩的身上捕捉到了很精彩的情感纠葛，于是诞生了她的记录片《姐姐》 　　姐姐》是一部跟刑警的工作和生活毫不相关的记录片，却通过小女孩的倔强展现了一种儿童生活，影片粗剪版本名为〈成长的烦恼〉（1996年12.30日和12.31日连续播出） 　　中国广播电视出版社的〈影视纪录片创作〉一书以〈姐姐〉为例，讲述了纪录片拍摄前期准备题材时需要注意的事项。〈姐姐〉可以说是中国新记录片从选材到拍摄手法上的一次电视尝试，也是后来拍故事片的李玉的拍摄经验积累。
