影片灵感来源于13世纪的德国民间故事《花衣魔笛手》，《花衣魔笛手》讲述哈默尔恩的村民答应魔笛手若能消灭鼠患，便给予他重酬，魔笛手吹起笛子，鼠群闻声随行至威悉河而淹死。村民则违反诺言不付酬劳。几周后，愤怒的魔笛手吹起笛子将村里的孩子诱到山洞内活活困死。豪丝娜的影片将聚焦在一位女老师的复仇故事上，由于家长的原因，孩子们不再信任这位老师，家长对其也是敌对的状态，这使得这位老师十分愤怒。
