李家赘婿宋阳得了绝症，为了避免妻子担心而选择隐瞒，并假装花天酒地让妻子同自己分开，而协商离婚现场，遭遇妻子家人的不断羞辱，险些去世，却意外触法世界贬值系统，使得自己成为了亿万富翁。与嫌贫爱富的李家人以及做恶多端的反派斗智斗勇中，宋阳发现了自己成为富翁的秘密，却没有被财富冲昏大脑，他也并未迷失在金钱里，而是凭借手中的钱，帮助妻子李雪经营企业，一起致力于慈善事业，两人的感情也在创办希望工程的过程中不断升温，宋阳也成为江城的大企业家和慈善家。
