昭和中期、日本がまだ夢見ていた頃、街から街へと人々を楽しませて回る「三日月サーカス」という小さなサーカス団があった。そこには仁太と渡という空中ブランコに憧れる兄弟がいた。しかし、不慮の事故により足を傷めた仁太は、夢がかなわぬままサーカス団を去ってしまう。

本剧讲述七十年代末，一对睡上下铺的小夫妻表面先婚后爱，实则青梅竹马、情有独钟、天作之合的爱情故事。展现七十年代国人“实用却不失善良，浪漫却不失拼搏”的精神。

上世纪七十年代，积极上进的制帽厂女工费霓一心想上大学靠知识改变命运。费霓的初中同学方穆扬因救人受伤成为了见义勇为的英雄，费霓主动提出照顾他，想要做好事评先进而被推荐上大学，但希望却屡次落空。现实的压力接踵而至，为了帮哥哥解决婚房的难题，费霞向方穆扬提出假结婚分房。几经波折二人终于有了自己的房子，成为了睡上下铺的小夫妻，他们共同面对困难，鼓励彼此追梦，虽磕磕绊绊，却也在平淡温馨的生活中滋长了情投意合的浪漫。最终费霓终于如愿上了大学，方穆扬也实现了自己的画家梦想，他们在幸福生活和美好未来的路上继续前行。
