暗影涌动，刻不待时。男主人公约翰（纳尔逊•布朗 Nelson Brown饰）匆忙闯进洗手间，颤抖着双手翻出洗漱包，东西凌乱不堪的散乱一地。满眼的血腥，约翰的伤势严重。脖颈上的疤痕正在渗出鲜血，指甲此刻也脓肿发炎，额头的伤口更是刻不容缓。摇晃的特写镜头下，约翰穿针引线开始缝合自己的伤口。 　　千钧一发之际，电话响起。可他的时间不多，一切都太迟了么？

Shot in the summer of 1980, this film from longtime directorial partners Straub and Huillet investigates the changing relationship between people, the land, and society in France and Egypt. The formal and structural basis for the film consists of two texts: a letter sent by Friedrich Engels to his disciple Karl Kautsky, and Egyptian intellectual Mahmoud Hussein's Class Struggles in Egypt. At the center of each text is a discussion of the people's relationship to the land. What Straub and Huillet have done is to film the specific places mentioned in each text -- for the Engels section we see shots of Mottreff, Lyons, and Harville; for the Hussein section we see the area around Neguib; and these shots are synced with a voice-over reading of the texts. What emerges is a document that functions as a history of Marxist thought, a landscape film, and as commentary on current French and Egyptian society.

À d'autres moments, on entend d'abord (le vent) puis on voit (l'herbe). Image et son sont synchrones et pourtant, à chaque instant, chacun de nous peut faire l'expérience de l'ordre dans lequel il range ses sensations. C'est donc un film sensationnel. »

1959. Guilty of a double-murder, a man is beheaded. At the bottom of the basket that just welcomed it, the head of the dead man tells his story: everything was going so well. Admired priest, magnificient lover, his earthly paradise seemed to have no end.

This film, very much of its time shows London in the early 1970's. Of course now a different world. Note the old fashion Underground ticket machines, and the Black and White Telly in the flat. The location looks very much like Churchill Gardens, Pimlico, with Battersea Power Station in the background. And, plenty of smoking going on, in pubs, and on the tube. The film is strangely sexy in its own way, with the young girl playing along with the much older man, its really a sexual fantasy come true. It is another one of those British low budget film where the low budget adds to rather that take away value. Watch for fun, which is what it is.
