If you're not familiar with French movies, this is an excellent one with which to start. The minor roles played by individuals such as Charlotte Gainsbourg (as herself, and seen recently in 'My Wife Is An Actress' directed by her husband, playing in English opposite Terence Stamp) is just one of many exemplary, comic performances in this droll, and very original comedy.

孟初夏 （ 李菲儿 饰）独自带着失踪姐姐留下的儿子生活，她善良乐观却从不幻想爱情，坚强地奋斗着。沈氏企业的沈岸 （ 朴海镇 饰）回国开拓事业，心底隐痛的往事让他不再期待爱情，通过相亲决定跟初夏的好友何若男 （ 屈菁菁 饰）订婚。初夏和沈岸因机缘巧合，彼此心存偏见。初夏意外失业，儿子孟响 （ 吴磊 饰）正值叛逆期，但她不畏跌倒，笑迎坎坷。一场车祸夺走若男的生命，临终前她把闺蜜初夏托付给沈岸。初夏自尊自强，屡次拒绝沈岸帮助。沈母认为初夏另有所图，阻止二人来往。沈岸怨恨母亲十几年前用同样的手段毁了自己的爱情，为证明自己如今能够掌控人生，沈岸决心娶初夏为妻。初夏和沈岸渐渐了解、温暖对方，最终迎来遥远的爱情。可初夏忽然发现，沈岸“往事”中的那个人就是姐姐孟晨霜，而沈母就是害姐姐远走他乡的人。这时离家十年的姐姐突然出现。最终，通过一系列事件化解多年的误会，最终初夏和沈岸幸福地生活在一起 。

姐姐失踪，留下了一个儿子由妹妹孟初夏（李菲儿 饰）抚养，因为带着这个“拖油瓶”，温柔善良的孟初夏从来都与浪漫的爱情无缘。沈岸（朴海镇 饰）是沈氏集团的接班人，过去痛苦的感情经历让他决定通过相亲来寻找完美的结婚对象，由此结识了初夏的好友何若男（屈菁菁 饰）。 　　没想到，何若男在一场车祸中不幸去世，临终前，她将好友初夏托付给了沈岸。然而，坚强自立的初夏不愿意接受沈岸的施舍，与此同时，沈岸的母亲亦对初夏心存偏见。为了对抗强势的母亲，沈岸决定与初夏结婚，可是就在这个节骨眼上，初夏却发现沈岸曾经的恋人正是自己的姐姐。而此时，失踪十年的姐姐忽然现身，一段复杂纠葛的恋情拉开了序幕。

1959. Guilty of a double-murder, a man is beheaded. At the bottom of the basket that just welcomed it, the head of the dead man tells his story: everything was going so well. Admired priest, magnificient lover, his earthly paradise seemed to have no end.

This film, very much of its time shows London in the early 1970's. Of course now a different world. Note the old fashion Underground ticket machines, and the Black and White Telly in the flat. The location looks very much like Churchill Gardens, Pimlico, with Battersea Power Station in the background. And, plenty of smoking going on, in pubs, and on the tube. The film is strangely sexy in its own way, with the young girl playing along with the much older man, its really a sexual fantasy come true. It is another one of those British low budget film where the low budget adds to rather that take away value. Watch for fun, which is what it is.
