英国导演本·威特利（Ben Wheatley）即将把弗兰克·米勒（Frank Miller）的漫画《Hard Boiled》拍成电影，而锁定主演该片的就是与他合作过《高楼》（High Rise）的英国男星汤姆·希德勒斯顿（Tom Hiddleston）。 　　《Hard Boiled》漫画由弗兰克·米勒编剧、Geof Darrow绘制，1990年经黑马漫画出版。整套漫画一共三卷，画风清奇。故事的主人公是一个郊区的保险调查员、居家好男人卡罗尔·赛尔兹（Carol Seltz），有天他被告知：他根本不是什么保险调查员或税务员，他实际上是个机器人，代号“尼克松”，专门为全世界最大的机器人公司“Willeford Home Appliances”刺杀目标。 　　更让他难以相信的是，机器人们已经有了自我意识，不再满足被人类奴役的命运，他们准备起义，而唯一能够帮助机器人们对抗公司暴力压迫的就是他！ 　　《Hard Boiled》电影由华纳兄弟公司投拍，抖森将出演男主角“卡罗尔·赛尔兹”。值得一提的是，这是本·威特利首次担任一部大制作的科幻动作片的导演，他的上部电影是多伦多电影节上备受好评的《自由开火》（Free Fire）。
