熊傑鋒是一位從外地打工後決定回雲南鄉下種田的青年。這位天真無邪，卻又不想隨波逐流的年輕人回到了平寨村後，開始種起了一種「紅穀子」。 　　但是紅穀子的栽種實在太過不易，收成的效果也不如既有的新品種。有機種植本源自中國，種植的技術全憑先祖們一代代的傳承，農民與土地一直有一份怎麼也說不清的歷史淵源與情感牽絆。諷刺的是，在農村種田的父母卻希望小孩子透過教育逃離農村。 　　對樂天知命卻又單純率真的熊傑鋒而言，找到一位願意嫁給自己這種貧窮農夫的年輕女孩，比起栽種「紅穀子」的麻煩程度，好像沒有差太多…… 　　XIONG Jie-feng is naive but not easily influenced. Different from other Chinese young people who prefer working in the cities, XIONG decided to go back to his hometown, a village in Yunnan province, and started to plant the “red rice seed”, a kind of ancient species. However, it is not easy. The “red rice seed” can only be planted in a traditional and organic way without chemicals.
