影片讲述的是1945年8月前苏联红军解放东北前夕，抗联88旅得知情报，日军在穆棱共和乡一带储藏了一批化学武器，于是迅速派遣一支由抗联战士、前苏联红军和化学武器专家组成的30多人的小分队进入穆棱境内，寻找这批化学武器，防止其爆炸泄漏。侦查中，小分队与日军发生多次战斗，他们历尽千辛万苦，终于在前苏军发动总攻前完成了任务。
