谷名伦在片中还只是客串出场。刘家昌在片中饰演顾玉琪（陈美龄饰）的哥哥，他们在孤儿院长大，相依为命，哥哥有个梦想就是让山上的黄草变为绿草，为此供妹妹读书。寄宿在魏家，魏家千金（刘秦雨饰）嫌弃乡下来的女孩，栽赃给玉琪，玉琪被赶出魏家，只有徐康泰知道玉琪是被冤枉，并让玉琪住在自己家，不久两人便结婚。得知消息的哥哥酗酒，不幸出车祸去世。为了完成哥哥的使命，他们成为了这片田园的继任者。本片插曲《田园》、《有我就有你》简直不要太好听。
