本剧讲述了男主角许晨，穿越到古代后意外替身贪官县令，在断案过程中发现犯人倭寇的真实身份，知晓倭寇犯下的屠村暴行后斩杀倭寇，却被其余倭寇劫走了媳妇，为了救回媳妇、为了给相亲报仇，男主突破重重困难，不惧艰难险阻，踏上了剿灭倭寇、保家卫国的道路。这剿灭倭寇的道路上，他遭受了以秦京为首的贪官的打压，但他不畏强权，知己赵淑宁公主的帮助与支持，得到了皇帝的赏识，解决一个个困难，解决了倭寇之患，实现人生价值。
