チビで女嫌いの硬派を自称する青葉春助と、彼に一目ぼれした「エル」こと朝丘夏美のドタバタラブコメディ。漫画とアニメでは途中から別のストーリーになっている。文庫本のあとがきに「宮崎美子さんの出演されていたカメラのCMの中で（いまの君はピカピカに光って）と言うフレーズと映像に強いインスピレーションを受けてかぼちゃワインと言う作品を執筆するきっかけになりました。つまり当時の宮崎美子さんがLのモデルと言う事になりますかね。」と当時CMで流れていた宮崎美子が出演したミノルタ MINOLTA X-7のCMにインスピレーションを受けた事で同作品が誕生した事が語られている。
