An ex junkie witnesses a murder. She is forced to cooperate with the killer to save her daughter's life. She must fight time, the police and criminal underworld to save the only person who means something to her.

An innocent woman is forced to confront a dangerous kingpin who has kidnapped her young daughter and is holding her for ransom. She teams up with a corrupt Interpol agent, whose son is also being held hostage, to rip off various criminals to raise the ransom to save their offspring. Together they have one hour to save their families from the wrath of bigwig.

矛と盾に関する故事『矛盾』にちなみ、相反する「絶対に○○なもの」同士を戦わせて決着をつけるというバラエティ番組。ただし、本当の意味での「矛盾」対決だけではなく、番組内容としては各分野における最強対決がベースとなっている。 　　2010年10月と2011年1月に『対決バラエティ ほこ×たて』（たいけつ - ）のタイトルで特別番組で放送され、2011年1月17日から月曜日のバラパラ枠にてレギュラー化された。 　　同年9月19日の放送をもってバラパラ枠での放送は終了し、10月からは『1年1組 平成教育学院』の後番組扱いで日曜19時台に移動及び1時間番組となった[3]。これにより、月曜日の『ネプリーグ』、金曜日の『ペケ×ポン』、土曜日の『〜あらゆる世界を見学せよ〜潜入!リアルスコープ』と合わせて、フジテレビの19時には深夜出身番組が4つ並ぶこととなった。 また、日曜19時に昇格してからバレー中継や特番が続き、2012年1月29日までレギュラーの1時間番組としての放送がなかった。その後はスポーツ中継や特番で、レギュラー回と2時間スペシャル版と合わせて月に1～3回程度放送されている。 　　歴代最高視聴率は、バラパラ枠時代が13.0%（2011年1月24日放送分）、ゴールデン昇格後は16.4%（2012年3月11日放送分）をそれぞれ記録している（関東地区、ビデオリサーチ調べ）。
