鬼子围剿扫荡狼牙山根据地，日军大队长野田天一、中队长三木武夫等带兵参加围剿。冀中军区损失惨重，袁政委不幸牺牲。杨团长指挥突围，季连长担任最后狙击任务，他的一个班战士接令撤退时被数百名鬼子围住，幸存的五名战士撤向一座山峰。面对追击而至的鬼子兵，他们誓死不做俘虏，打光最后一颗子弹。季连长带着四名战士携手跳下悬崖绝壁。季连长所幸大难不死。而常湘玉却失踪，八路军派杨尔俊杨木栓去找常湘玉。而日本鬼子也在找女八路，瓦窑堡村妇女在杨尔俊的媳妇枣花的带领下，慢慢提高觉悟，以柳絮、枣花等妇女一起对抗日本鬼子，将藏兵洞改造成地道，开打地道战，最终取得胜利 。
