一對來自鄒族的母子阿禾與小山，由阿里山移居到五光十色的絢爛都市，所遭遇迷惘與挫的人生歷程。在重重的打擊下，阿禾還是沒有忘記自己的初衷，仍是一個慈愛的母親、仍是一個驕傲的鄒族女子，勇敢的帶著小山生活下去。 　　這樣的故事在充滿矛盾與衝突的社會裡不斷上演著，除了反應現實的城鄉差距外，更要告知社會大眾，在混亂的時代裡，找到自己、提升自我價值仍然是最重要的課題。 　　在這樣的環境背景下，將透過這對母子真切而直接的情感之中，帶出「親情」、「愛情」、「友情」的真正意義，單純且珍貴，找尋出真正愛的力量，讓影片回歸到最原始的戲劇價值，為觀眾帶來滿滿的感動。 　　導演的話： 　　當初想到的主題是「原住民母親的故事」。經過反覆構思：「是否能不在山上拍原住民的故事呢？」在我們週遭的都會裡，不也多的是奮力求生活的原住民嗎？ 　　找到了慧君，是個最大的驚喜，她居然也願意親赴醫院來和我討論劇情(當時我正在住院)，我在慧君的眼中看到了熱情，看到音樂，最重要的，我看到一個義無反顧肩負著家鄉驕傲傳承的鄒族「公主」(在我眼裡，她絕對是個貴族)。 　　所以，也算是某種量身訂做，我和編劇們建構了「依諾之歌」的劇本；我試著呈現勞動者的辛勞，原住民的天賦與音樂，山上族群因應社會變遷而面臨的改變…當然，最重要的宗旨：每一個母親對自己孩子無怨無悔絕無止境的愛。無論在世界何處，無論任何族群…。
