整个欧洲笼罩在即黑又厚的云层中，云层下面发生以怨报德的导光现象，在大学里研究来电的兰迪斯博士查觉到了这不是单纯的雷，因受到来电的影响，停电、通信机器瘫痪的现象频频发生。国防部，军队也对这个异常气候采取紧急措施，却没有找到适当的解决对策。在调查的过程中兰迪斯博士发觉到这是极其可怕的一种现象。在世界大规模范围里发生的这场来电风暴将逐渐的形成一场巨大的“暴风雨”……要是这个“暴风雨”席卷地球的话，环境将受到破坏，而且地球被包围在厚厚的黑云团之中，它意味着人类即将要面临冰河期的到来……

在东南亚的巴度村，因为一个工厂秘密排放污水，形成了一只变异巨蜥。优秀的猎人胡天明，正带着亚太卫生组织的赵小叶进行野外考察。行进中，他们偶遇了上山维修信号的巴度村村长、胡天明的哥哥胡天照。赵小叶通过生物习性找到了巨蜥的居所，然而巨蜥远比想象凶猛，经过一系列追击，所有人被迫困在工厂。一场逃生之旅由此展开。
