本作は、9歳で失明し、18歳で聴力を失った東京大学の教授でバリアフリー研究者・福島智（ふくしまさとし）と、母・令子の実話をもとにした物語。智の幼少期から大学受験までの姿が描かれる。

自远而近，传来了风的呜咽。愁云乱滚的窗外，树叶无根无系，随风飘荡。一个消瘦的男人从画面的右方出现，他顶着狂风前进，可是过于强大的风力让他根本无法站立。他时而被吹得倒退回去，时而将身躯俯成极低的角度蹒跚。然而总在不经意间失去控制，狼狈非常地滚来滚去。仿佛跌入了一个错乱的时空黑洞，他沿着同一个方向滚出滚入。而就在此时，一个小女孩则灵巧地走入画面，她仿佛全然不会受到风的影响，很漫不经心地走到最左边，关上了门。那一刻狂风戛然而止……

《风》一片中，自然的力量摧毁了一个娇小的年轻的女人（吉斯饰），她被困于一间处于风沙侵袭之中的沙漠小屋。通过电影拍摄技术和吉斯的表演，风成功地被表现为宇宙中曾经对脆弱的人性实施暴虐的一切力量的象征。而当面对一个野蛮男人的袭击时，看似单纯而脆弱的吉斯显示了她个性中勇敢与反抗的一面。
