The first Russian emo-movie, Closed Spaces is a story about the newest generation of Russians. Having grown up in Russia's crazy 1990s, an era filled with constant and drastic change, these teenagers have no solid ground beneath their feet. They are trapped in a strange world in which their money-obsessed parents lead senseless lives and even kill each other. Vika is twenty years old. She has black fingernail polish, wears pink dresses, and is constantly depressed. While working at a pizza place, she gets an order for a pizza delivery from Venya, a strange twenty year old boy who lives all alone in a deserted apartment in the middle of Moscow. Venya suffers from agarophobia, the fear of open space. When Vika arrives Venya lets her in and locks the door behind her. The story begins.

Closed Circuit is structured, in one sense, as a straightforward commercial thriller, with a series of mysterious and bloody murders and a wide variety of potential suspect, each with a secret to hide. Its location and the crimes commited, however, deal with the nature of film itself - from the pictures on the screen to the administration of the cinema - and specifically with film as both a projected illusion and as an audience's temporary reality. 　　This central idea is ingeniously and diectly woven into the fabric of the film's story: a small audience file into the matinee in an Italian provincial town to watch a spaghetti western. Many of the audience are using the cinema as a refuge from an uncomfortable reality in the world outside an adukterous couple make a clandestine rendevous, a middle-aged homosexual attempts a furtive pick-up - but their escape, the film, the cinema, dramatically impinges upon their lives. The last reel is the classic Western shootout but as the gunman fires at the camera, a member of the audience slumps dead in his seat, a bullet hole in his chest. Chaos erupts, the police are called in, close the cinema and restage the crime. At exactly the same moment in the film, a second man dies.....

有一天，高速公路突然宣布，从下午六点开始全线封闭，几十万辆车就这样塞在大大小小的公路上。从来不知责任的小玉，为了一个麻将牌局偷车赴约，并打算拿车上的行动电话消遣车主，在彼此看不到，只能听见的相处中，两人从敌封到了解，小玉和车主透过电话里的声音经历了一段不寻常的恋情。一个来路不明的年青杀手，为执行抢击任务校持了一部货运卡车，司机与杀手这一老一少在长夜里由冲突到和谐谅解，终于杀手自己找到他该有的平静。罗立通，刚被政府官员解雇的座车司机，在极度不满的情绪下盗开官员座车上了高速公路。他沿路狂飙不为什么，只为追求一种活的有意义与尊严的感觉。

Un comte fait construire un petit nid d’amour pour lui et sa concubine, une pièce avec une porte pour seule ouverture. Surprenant sa bien-aimée dans les bras de son musicien, il va les enfermer en murant cette porte. L’action est ici assez réduite, Griffith s’efforçant de créer avant tout un certain suspense. Il se concentre sur le trio principal et joue en partie avec les regards. A noter la présence dans des rôles de figuration de Mack Sennett (l’un des soldats) et de Mary Pickford (l’une des courtisanes).
