1940年，一面神秘铜鼓出现在法国小镇庄园，铜鼓来自中国，是永丰城仲家人的图腾圣物，铜鼓有雌雄。国民党军统高层得到消息派情报处长韦迪到法国拿回铜鼓。此时日本人也盯上了铜鼓，经过周折韦迪和考古学家那相晋的女儿那云聪将铜鼓带回了中国，发现那相晋已离奇死亡，那相晋收藏的雌铜鼓也消失不见。为查找那相晋死亡原因和找回雌铜鼓，那云聪和韦迪来到永丰城。此时日本特务也伪装进到永丰城，在仲家人蒙阿瑶的帮助下韦迪和那云聪瓦解了日本特务的阴谋，也揭开了铜鼓的秘密。蒙阿瑶为保护那云聪不幸牺牲，蒙阿瑶的牺牲触痛了韦迪和那云聪，二人被蒙阿瑶抗日救国的决心和舍生忘死的革命信仰所感召，终于认识到只有共产党才能救中国，那云聪和韦迪祭拜了蒙阿瑶后，继承了蒙阿瑶的抗日救国遗志，毅然加入了中国共产党。
