Shin Da-mi is devoted both to her work and home. Managing Director Pak at her company is known as a bachelor. Pak is the object of envy of all her female co-workers but he only has eyes for Da-mi. Naive Da-mi gives herself up completely to the affections of Pak thinking that marriage is not far off. But, it turns out that the supposed bachelor has a wife and son. When they show up, Pak dumps Da-mi. Filled with vengeance, Da-mi goes out with the chairman and with his help, she has her revenge on Pak.

연지와 문호는 약혼여행을 떠난다. 그러나 첫날밤 연지는 문호의 친구 동우에게 어쩔 수 없는 상황속에 몸을 허락하고 만다. 문호는 이 사실을 알게되지만 연지를 사랑하기에 괴로워한다. 동우는 계속 그들의 주위를 맴돌고 연지는 문호에 대한 연민과 사랑으로 고민하지만 문호는 떠나기로 한다. 문호는 사랑을 고백하는 수진과 동거를 하지만 연지를 잊지 못한다. 그런 어느날 문호는 교통사고를 당하고 그의 병상을 지키던 연지는 자신이 사랑한 사람은 문호였음을 깨닫고 두사람은 결혼식을 올린다. 동우는 악마의 손길처럼 다시 접근해 오고 연지는 그에게 다시 몸을 허락하고 만다. 결국 동우는 연지에게 과거를 이용해 거액을 요구하고 연지는 문호의 영예를 지키기 위해 동우를 죽이기로 결심하고 문호가 숨어서 보는 사이에 동우를 살해한다.

While preparing to shut down the photo studio business that he has been running, a man (Yoon Jemoon) hears that someone named Chulsu has died. The man contacts several friends in the hope of finding to attend the funeral with him. Usu is a film in which an image of a man, sunk in depression, is printed on a screen. It is not important who Chulsu is. It looks as if the man traces back his past, but the film refuses to give any concrete explanation. Instead, it carves abstract emotions onto a refined screen. Characters are placed in the multi-layered frames and are as quiet as paintings. Leisurely paced, the film captures them as they are buried in darkness while conversations, that look absent-minded yet incisive, add vitality to the slow and contemplative rhythm. The half serious and half playful lines sound like an extended joke about loneliness. Usu is a drama that resembles a carefully staged photograph. It casts its shadow of sorrow and loneliness upon those who watch it. (SONG Kyung-won)

原作は谷崎潤一郎の同名の小説で、谷崎自身が経験した三角関係の恋愛事件がモチーフにされている。監督は前年「夫婦善哉」で名匠の名を確立した豊田四郎。主役にその「夫婦善哉」で絶妙な演技を示した森繁久彌を再び起用している。庄造の生活は愛猫リリーを中心に動いているといっていいほどで、異常なまでの愛情をリリーに注いでいる。母親は庄造の前妻を追い出したが、今また叔父が彼の娘を庄造にと縁談を持ちかけてくるや、その持参金に目をつけて早くも承知する。しかし当の庄造は新妻がリリーを追い出して以来、色や金などそっちのけで、リリーのことが気が気でならない。甲斐性なしの男をめぐって母、先妻、後妻が欲や嫉妬に絡んで凄烈なやりとりを繰り広げる人間喜劇である。

His father (Vladimír Mensík), a shoe-maker, moved there his wife and three children hoping they would escape a country poverty. He soon threw his daughter Vera (Zlata Adamovská) out of home; he did not like her relationship with a married man. The competition of Bata factory was unsurpassable for a minor craftsman Bursík and his neighbours owed him for minor services. The desperate Bursík sent Kajda to sell his mother's dresses to get money for food. In a second-hand shop, Kajda met his first love.
